A Few Effective Massage Techniques

If you really want to learn some massage techniques to have more quality time with your partner, then reading this article is a good start.  Massages give a lot of health benefits.  It improves the lymphatic and blood circulation of the person.  It also loosens tight muscles and it makes the person feel relaxed and happy since the massage helps release endorphins and serotonin.

Now the tricky part is, how do you actually do the massage without hurting the person under your palms?  Set a relaxing mood.  That includes turning off the phone or cellphones, close the curtains.  Dim the lights in the room and turn on some relaxing music in the background with minimal volume.  Make sure that the massage session won’t be interrupted.

Use massage oil.  Instead of lotion, moisturizers and Vaseline, use massage oils to have a more fluid hand or palm movement. Lotions and moisturizers tend to absorb onto the skin too quickly while Vaseline is a bit sticky, thick and uncomfortable when you put all over the body. Ask those with long hair to tie up their hair so it won’t get in the way of the massage.  It is also best if your partner will remove their shirts so it won’t get soaked with the oil from the massage.

Pressure. It’s always safe to have moderate pressure.  Your objective is to help the person relax.  Strokes.  When you start the massage, use the palm of your hand to apply pressure on the muscles starting with the shoulders. Then you can move on to the upper and lower back of the person.  The most relaxing stroke is circle strokes.  One hand moves clockwise, while the other hand moves anti-clockwise. The movements have to be slow but firm.

You can start off with that, then you can move on to advanced massages by getting some tips from a book, the internet and some people who actually do this for a living- a reflexologist or a masseuse. When doing the massage, allow your partner to enjoy it and don’t expect them to return the favor right away…Perhaps the next day?
